I was that kid who filled her notebooks with mediocre poetry. Thinking about it, you can never separate me from writing.
Hello, I’m France.
Long before my young brain could comprehend, I was already enthralled with writing. So much so that my career shift to content strategy and copywriting probably did not shock my Asian parents.
Year 2003: Maybe I’m good at writing.
A (then) weird compliment from my homeroom teacher pretty much set the tone for my career. She decided to feature my graduation essay in the school’s publication.
Year 2003-2007: There’s nothing wrong with trying. (Part 1)
My high school professors noticed my “talent” for communication, and encouraged me to explore it. That built my confidence, so I decided to pursue Broadcast Journalism in the hopes of writing for newspapers or TV shows.
Year 2009: I’m prepared for life…or so I thought.
I won Fictionist of the Year in the most prestigious writing competition in our university. That tripled my confidence and made me think, “I got this in the bag!” I was wrong…
Year 2011: Real life happened.
I graduated from college and was instantaneously humbled by how little opportunity there was in writing. I needed a job, so I chose my second option, video editing. In my mind, it’s another form of storytelling, so why not?
Year 2018: I should never stop learning.
I took courses about Digital Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, and Social Media Marketing. That opened so many opportunities for me at the height of the pandemic.
Year 2020: There’s nothing wrong with trying. (Part 2)
I decided to freelance as a Social Media Manager for coaches and other female entrepreneurs. Then it evolved into Marketing Assistance, where I honed my skills in Content Strategy, Copywriting, Graphic Design, and Funnel Optimization.
Year 2025: Young France will never believe this.
After 13 years of video editing, I decided to leave my 9-5 to write. There were no fears and what-ifs. Matamayari Copywriting Services was born.
